Welcome to Earl’s 1964 MLB Replay
Finally after all these years and many false starts Earl begins his 1964 actual Replay . In 1964 . Earl had just turned 13 years old. He and his Dad Charlie were diehard Baseball nuts . Earl and his Dad listened to their beloved Cincinnati Reds broadcasts every summer evening on their back porch without fail . Earl and his Dad truly bonded in their love of the game and the Reds .
1964 was the first year Earl actually followed the entire Baseball universe through Newspaper Box scores , Radio Broadcasts and of course the once per week Game of the week on TV . Earl listened to Cub radio broadcasts during the day and the Reds mostly at night . 1964 was the year Earl discovered if the transistor radio was turned just at the right angle, he could hear St.Louis Cardinal broadcasts at night some 250 miles away .
1964 was the big Baseball year for Earl as Charlie took him to Crosley field to see an actual Major League game ( Reds/Pirates) . The smell of cigars and stale beer and the green grass. His actual heros Frank Robinson , Vada Pinson , Clemente and Willie Stargell all there ,actual People . Earl was hooked
Finally the 1964 season pennant race was a beauty as The Reds battled the Cards, the Braves, the Giants and the Phillies all the way to the final day of the season . The White Sox battled the hated New York Yankees right down to the end . At least for 1964 ,Earl was a Chicago White Sox fan too. The season ended in disappointment for Earl and Charlie . But wow sharing that season with your Dad as they had . That was a forever memory .
This replay will be played primarily using the Payoff Pitch Cards and Dice Baseball game to play Cincinnati Reds games and the Replay PC Baseball to simulate the remainder of the NL schedule . For the AL Earl will attempt to use Payoff Pitch for the Chicago Whitesox games and PC Replay to simulate the other AL games . PC Replay will be used to report the Stats.
